- Recent Change in the Law: Senate Bill No. 823 which became effective September 30, 2020, and Senate Bill No. 92, which became effective May 14, 2021, provide reformation of the juvenile justice system. They direct the closure of the DJJ (June 30, 2023) and transfer responsibility for managing all youthful offenders from the State to county governments commencing July 1, 2021.
